In the article “FT – Polluters are paying higher interest rates, ECB finds“, published on the Financial Times on 16 July 2024, Lee Harris discusses research by CSEF Fellows Carlo Altavilla and Marco Pagano and their coauthors Miguel Boucinha (ECB) and Andrea Polo (LUISS and EIEF) on whether banks price climate risk in the lending choices labor supply and how the price that they place on such risk is affected by the monetary policy choices of the ECB. A related article also appeared in Milano Finanza on 13 August. The research was based on the granular data of the ECB Anacredit credit register for all euro-area banks, and was published in CSEF Working Paper no. 687 on “Climate Risk, Bank Lending and Monetary Policy“.
